Do you feel the need to change your lifestyle? Are you confused what type of regimen to be followed during different seasons? Have you ever wondered how the manifestation of a disease takes place? Have you also thought why only certain people suffer with certain diseases at a particular point of time? All the above questions are systematically answered in the samhitas of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit words namely ‘ayur’ and ‘veda’ which means the ‘science of life’. It is considered to be a part of atharva veda (one among the four vedas).

Ayurveda is based on the concept of tridosha, saptadhatu and trimala. Vata, pitta and kapha are considered as the three doshas which when vitiated perish the body and which when in normal state maintain the health. Dhatus are seven in number and help in the nourishment of the body. Malas are considered to be three in number and their excretion at the proper time and right quantity is essential for the maintenance of health.

Ayurveda considers every individual to be of different Prakriti. Prakriti is defined as the character of the body as regards to health, strength etc. Thus, based on the prakriti, every individual requires a different treatment modality and different regimen to be followed.

Ayurveda also speaks about daily regimen to be followed in order to lead a healthy and disease free life. It also speaks about regimen to be followed during different seasons to keep diseases at bay. Thus, comprehensively Ayurveda speaks about every aspect in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and also cure a patient of his diseases.
